Privacy policy

Last updated 20 October 2026.

This policy explains how I, Sam Akbari, handle personal information collected through samakbari.com. I aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What I collect

  • Contact form. Your name, email address, company, the role and timing you select, and your message.
  • AI Readiness Scorecard. Your answers are scored in your browser and are not sent to me. If you choose to email yourself the results, I receive your name, email address, company and scores.
  • Board paper and AI vendor report. If you ask for one of these documents, I receive your name, work email, company, role and revenue band, plus the calculator inputs or the vendor answers used to build it. The vendor answers are otherwise kept in your browser.
  • My notes (optional). If you tick the box to receive my occasional notes on a form, I email you a link to confirm, and only add you once you do. I record that you agreed, when you confirmed, which form you used and the exact wording you agreed to.
  • Bookings. If you book a call, the booking is handled by TidyCal, which collects the details you enter there.
  • Website analytics. I use analytics to understand how the website is used, such as pages viewed, how visitors arrived and approximate location. Ahrefs and Cloudflare analytics are cookie-free. Google Analytics uses cookies and a pseudonymous identifier; I don't use it to identify you, and I don't use it for advertising. Albacross uses cookies and your network (IP) address to work out which organisation a visit comes from, so I can see which companies are interested in my work. The website also keeps its own record of the pages you view, when, how you arrived, your approximate location, your device and the network you're on, linked to a random identifier in a cookie. If you send me one of the website's forms, or follow a link to the website from one of my emails, that record is linked to your name and email address, including your earlier visits from the same browser, and I see it alongside your details in my customer database. I keep it for about 13 months. If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics, Albacross and the website's own record only run if you accept them in the cookie banner. Declining removes the website's cookie, and I'll delete your visit history if you ask. Anyone can accept or decline at any time under Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, and your choice is remembered for 12 months. You can also block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on.

How I use it

I use your information to reply to your enquiry, send you the results you asked for, arrange and prepare for calls, and understand how the website is used so I can improve it. I keep your enquiry, what you sent through the website's forms and my notes of our conversations in a private, access-controlled customer database, so I can manage our working relationship. Only I can access it. I only send you my notes if you tick the box to receive them and confirm by email. Every note says who it's from and has an unsubscribe link, and I act on unsubscribe requests within five working days. My email provider records whether each note is opened and which links are clicked, so I can see what readers find useful; blocking images in your email app stops the open tracking. Links to this website in my emails say which email they came from, so I can see which of my readers visit. I don't sell personal information.

Who I share it with

I use a small number of service providers to run this website, and they process information on my behalf:

  • Cloudflare hosts the website, provides analytics, checks form submissions for spam and stores form records.
  • Ahrefs provides privacy-friendly website analytics, without cookies or personal data.
  • Albacross identifies the organisations that visit the website, under Albacross's own privacy policy.
  • Google provides website analytics (Google Analytics) and my email (Google Workspace), where form submissions arrive, under Google's own privacy policy.
  • SendGrid (Twilio) delivers emails sent from the website.
  • TidyCal manages call bookings.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) carries any messages you choose to send me there, under WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy.

Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States and other countries. I choose providers that take reasonable steps to protect personal information.

Keeping it safe

I take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and I keep it only as long as I need it for the purposes above or as required by law.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the personal information I hold about you, or ask me to delete it, by contacting me using the details below. If you have a concern about how I've handled your information, please contact me first and I'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
